“A communion with nature, sustainability and well-being make this place a shelter from the city. A sanctuary for the 5 senses. A silence interrupted by cicadas and crickets, or simply by the wind that kisses the trees “
After four long days of work shooting for the 10th anniversary of DSECTION, we head south to Comporta for a well-deserved rest. The music in the car was so calm and the windows were open, feeling the warm wind that approached from south. A journey of endless roads lined with beautiful trees and infinite fields. And after an hour driving from Lisbon, there was the impressive (but delicate) entrance to Sublime Comporta, an entrance that announced a place of peace, rest and experiences. A night forest through which we go in, looking for rest and the best bed in the world. All we need right now. Our car was electric and our biggest concern was being able to charge the car during the night: well, no problem. Sublime has several charging points for electric cars and the staff is 100% prepared to help us. In the reception, a very warm smile received us and dealt with the check-in quickly and professionally. I remember being told: you will leave Sublime rejuvenated! She was 100% right. The reception already gave us a glimpse of the decoration and ambience that awaited us here. Calm, above all, calm and tranquility. A communion with nature, sustainability and well-being make this place a shelter from the city. A sanctuary for the 5 senses. A silence interrupted by cicadas and crickets, or simply by the wind that kisses the trees. And here we are in our villa, a twin two bedroom villa with a fireplace and private pool. As we arrived late, the team thought of everything and prepared a few delicacies and a magnificent Portuguese red wine. We lit the fireplace, opened the bottle and suddenly, started to rain. We opened the glass doors leading to the pool and there we stayed, listening to the drops of rain falling on the water, to the sound of cicadas and the fireplace popping… We were exhausted but that moment was so good and relaxing that we ended up talking for a few hours while the fireplace was still warming up. Perhaps that is why they call it ‘sublime’, as soon as we enter the rooms we are faced with incredible comfort and space.
“Each villa has a private pool, a fireplace and extensive outdoor areas. They are scattered throughout the property, contributing to the hotel’s intimacy.”
And the bed looks at us in a passionate way. And so it was, we fell in love with the Sublime beds and their comfort providing us an extremely peaceful and restful night. When we woke up we opened the curtains and all around us: a splendor of nature, dense and rich. At that moment, the birds singing is the best melody you can ask for. We leave the room, barefoot, and walk on the rain-wet land and allow ourselves to be absorbed by nature. Breakfast was served in the room, from the most varied options of eggs as well as freshly squeezed juice and warm croissants. After a coffee we decided to visit the property, which has a total of 17 hectares. It has 23 rooms and suites, 22 villas from two to five rooms. Each villa has a private pool, a fireplace and extensive outdoor areas. They are scattered throughout the property, contributing to the hotel’s intimacy. Among the many amenities available for all guests to enjoy are: a spa with a steam bath and sauna, three restaurants (two seasonal), four pools (including one indoor heated pool and one children’s pool), a gym, a yoga pavilion, tennis and paddle courts, an organic garden, a forest garden and an orchard. Not sure if we can ask for anything more… Did we mention also the organic garden? Built based on the principles of permaculture, includes over 300 varieties of herbs, vegetables and edible flowers. These are used in the restaurants, bar and spa, providing unique experiences – both sensorial and gastronomic. Sublime Comporta also features a large Bio Pool (one of the largest in Europe). Here the water is treated solely with aquatic plants, excluding the use of chemicals. This space is a true living ecosystem deepening Sublime Comporta’s sustainable attitude. We will certainly return with more time to try Sublime’s cuisine and drink a good wine under a hot summer night. It would be sublime!
