“i first visited naples in 2014 and absolutely fell in love with the city but it wasn’t until 2016 that i decided to permanently move there. i went with the intention of making a project and i taught english to pay the bills. i spent over a year in naples before moving back to london. i come back and add to the project at least twice a year. exposure to new cultures is vital for inspiration. all countries have a different colour palette, light, variants in skin colours and facial features. tackling such novelties can at first be daunting but over time it only helps to sharpen one’s visual repertoire. more importantly, however exposure to foreign social interactions through photography helps one grow as a human being. said learned traits can then be taken home and applied to all aspects of one’s personal and professional life.“
Naples has so many different layers and contradictions that it would take a lifetime to create a body of work that scratched just below the surface.

“My Naples project truly allowed me to appreciate the beauty of my homeland, Britain, and vice versa. Both projects influence and feed one another. I set out with a vague idea of a project and start to put the narrative together as soon as I begin to accumulate images. I find very specific projects to be quite limiting in a creative sense. It is in my nature to always wonder what is around the corner, which is why I often choose rather large, all-encompassing projects on specific cities or countries as it gives me the freedom to wander. Naples has so many different layers and contradictions that it would take a lifetime to create a body of work that scratched just below the surface. This is what fascinates me about the city and I can honestly see myself shooting there till the day I die. I’m currently searching for a new city to create a new project, but to be honest after spending so much time in Naples I am finding it very difficult, as most cities pale in comparison to the uniqueness of this city.”
