THE OMNIA
Mountain Lodge, Auf dem Fels, CH-3920 Zermatt
flawless uniforms, extreme hygiene and a kitchen that makes us want to stay at the hotel.
The trip was incredibly beautiful. The landscapes were whiter than the white, the silence was comforting and the scenery was certainly painted by someone who is in love with nature. The journey from Zurich to Zermatt was made on a train where the windows were larger than my dreams. My eyes were experiencing visual orgasms of such beauty. After two hours we were reaching the destination. Zermatt.Traveling is an experience. No matter the destination. No matter the duration, we have to know how to live the journey and over the last years I have learned how to do it. But even so travel can be unexpected, by good or less good surprises. But they will always be experiences. Christian, the so nice hotel’s Managing Director would have informed me earlier that Zermatt was a car-free village and we would have a small electric car waiting for us under the name “THE OMNIA”.
The scenery was idyllic, the chimneys were steaming and the snowflakes were falling very slowly on my shoulders. And here it was, our little electric car. Through small alleys we reached the magnificent THE OMNIA, a 5 star superior property.
The hotel entrance is cinematic. Through a rocky cave. Literally we entered through the mountain. At least we feel that way. An elevator took us to the reception, where Christian and his team await us with the greatest of smiles. A fireplace, a pleasant smell of burnt wood, and a glass of red wine. And a breathtaking view of the village of Zermatt, already asleep, where only the night lights and the chimneys were alive, and made us dream.
I was anxious to see the room. The one where I could dream of unique sights, where I can watch the sunrise and the sunset while the light painted the infinite white. We stayed in a suite where the windows of the living room and bedroom offered a privileged view for landscape lovers. An inspiring sight, And there it was, the magnificent Matterhorn, illuminated by the moonlight on a night of cold snow that warmed our hearts. I can venture to say that THE OMNIA has the most privileged view to this mountain. The perfect retreat.
But obviously one of the highest moments would be the restaurant at THE OMNIA. We have heard a thousand and one things about the gastronomy of this place, but nothing like ourselves to write it, or would say better, to experience it. For the first time I am missing words to describe the various sensations of this place. In the restaurant guests sit at the table almost as friends, the staff is extremely well prepared and the service is incomparable. And again… the pleasant smell of burnt wood, where a sofa facing the fireplace invited us for a glass of wine before dinner. Can I stay here forever? Can I work from here?
The starters, main courses, desserts and the vast wine list offered by the hotel is extraordinary. I am also happy to say that there is a Portuguese wine on this list. And finally, chocolates melting in your mouth at the same time the wood burns in the fireplace and a digestive shakes in the glass. Yes, I’ll stay here.
Every night Christian greets every guest during dinner, trying to see if everything pleases them or if there is something he and his team can do better. But it’s time to sleep. Tomorrow the Sun will rise in the mountains. We want to see the new painting over Zermatt.
Last, but not the least, the SPA. With a “crazy” indoor/outdoor pool, with a view of the village and the Matterhorn. Large glass windows open our views to a fairytale landscape. Customized treatments, sauna, Turkish bath, caldarium, petal steam room, relaxation room and outdoor whirlpool makes this place a paradise for “feel well” lovers.
And don’t worry if you have forgotten the snow equipment or if you have not yet purchased your ski passes. The hotel will handle everything with impressive speed.
I was very lucky to be able to experience the highest level of hotels luxury service. I am not simply talking about the decoration of the rooms, or the magnificent SPA and cuisine, but the real human services. I am talking about the love and professionalism, where our name becomes familiar at the end of the day. The smiles are the welcome card as well as a fireplace at the hotel reception and a nice glass of red wine, contrasting with the outside negative temperatures. I am very sensitive to smells and I can say that the fragrance of the hotel was very well selected. Flawless uniforms, extreme hygiene and a kitchen that makes us want to stay at the hotel. The staff is always available to help and give you informations about Zermatt.
Christian is the soul of this place and is always attentive to every detail. It was a pleasure to meet him and all THE OMNIA team. A place to visit, revisit, and stay.
As I usually say: “Luxury is an experience made of details”
