There is an idyllic place located on a hill overlooking the sea. A place that extends the blue sky, where dreams remain untouched. The morning breeze runs through the vaulted corridors and falls asleep on the colorful walls of this place. Las Brisas, a paradise unknown to many, an oasis by the sea. Perhaps one of Ibiza’s best kept secrets. Any guest’s dream. The location, the service, the silence, the bucolic drama. Everything is so passionate and accomplished. It could be an authentic Marrakesh riad with lush internal gardens. Open ocean views, warm morning breezes and a jaw-dropping sunset. Small, charming and luxurious, the four star Hotel Las Brisas in Ibiza sits on the privileged Es Porroig cliff top, overlooking the picturesque bay of Es Cubells. It will be difficult to overcome this little paradise that make our mind travel to many places at the same time. The calm, the silence, the view and the decoration of this hotel make it into our top 5 in Ibiza. A little secret that we wish we had kept just for ourselves.
It was quite late when we arrived at Las Brisas. The night was already dancing on the shores of the island and we were going up the hill of És Cubells. The entrance is very discreet almost as if it were a private house. The gates open slowly and the dim light invites us to enter. We parked the car and went to reception. As it was late, the silence was noisy, only the cicadas and the wind among the foliage could be felt. For a few moments I felt that we were entering a Riad in Morocco, with its arched doors and vaulted exterior. At least the inspiration was there. A small reception, unpretentious, but full of unique decorative details. It could be the home of someone with great taste and used to travelling. Check-in was quick, given the late hour we arrived, which also did not allow us to see anything from the hotel. But at that moment, and almost always during the stay, I felt that I had rented a private villa, my own home in Ibiza. A dream to come true, but for a moment, and in the next few days that would be the reality. Our room was on the first floor. On the right side of reception. In this hotel, magnetic cards are not used to open doors, but real keys. Keys that open doors to dreams, to moments, to memories. In fact, this hotel doesn’t have many pictures on the internet and they also do not represent the magic of this place at all and proof of that was when we opened the heavy wooden door at the top of the stairs and entered our suite. Much bigger than we imagined.
The entrance led directly into a very large living room. As it was night we had no idea about the view that this place had but the entire length of the room were floor to ceiling windows and certainly that would bring a huge surprise the next day. Cream and “café au lait” tones were Kings in this suite and the sunset light would be the perfect lover for these walls. The next morning, with our body and minds already rested, we open all the curtains in the suite and my eyes cannot believe what they are seeing: A huge terrace outside the suite that extends our gaze to the sea. The blue of the sky and the sea are lovers and dance in perfect harmony. My vision of a riad becomes real with the exotic vegetation on our terrace and all around us. The suite is big. Quite large but with a feeling of comfort and home. From whatever point I am I can see the sea, nothing is an impediment. Am I dreaming? As soon as I open the suite doors to go out onto the terrace, a morning breeze crosses my face and I close my eyes: it’s just me and the sea. From here I can also see almost the entire property, elegant, well decorated. I would say it was a love affair between the French Riviera and Morocco. The green of the gardens is everywhere, palm trees and bougainvillea. But succulents are the queens of Las Brisas.
This hotel undoubtedly has one of the most beautiful gyms in the world: a dedicated cloister in terracotta colours and in the center a garden of succulents and exotic plants growing onto the sky. An open-air cloister where the gym machines are distributed along the corridors, there are no doors, no walls, just the sky, the breezes and nature. Every corner of this hotel is a discovery. All rooms are different, strong colours coexisting perfectly with the whole space. The breezes from the sea and the island relentlessly run through this place, the corridors are unobstructed, there are no doors that block the view or our walk. Only Las brisas.
