“Pushing boundaries of beauty, gender, and ableism, these drag queens and kings with Down syndrome embrace their extra chromosome as a superpower, sharing their love of life and performance. When I first saw Drag Syndrome on stage, they spoke with sass, teasing a crowd, who whooped and cheered their every dance move. Photographing these five performers, their joy was contagious and inspired creativity in the whole team. As the energy surged, I pressed the shutter and the day ended with hugs and tears of elation.”
